How will fast food as an industry handle the increase to a $15.00 per hour Federal Minimum Wage?
First off, many will simply close down. Others will limit their menus, offer additional or longer periods of Drive-Thru times and close the dining room early or go to All-Drive-Thru service. and some will raise menu prices too high.
McDonald’s has found that tactics that helped them absorb the 2009 Federal Minimum Wage Increase are not working now. Because of this, the company allegedly plans to eliminate part of its human crew members with robots – but, this is really still a rumor. Those few remaining humans would be robotics technicians and that is a good thing, since that work requires more skills and a higher salary to go with them.
Will a Phoenix Arizona McDonald’s go all-robot soon? Probably not, but it’s fun to think about. After all, sci-fi author Arthur C. Clarke was the first to think up communications satellites (ComSats) and we have them all over the near-Earth cosmos now!
Business and Job Trends In Hawaii
In Hawaii, many Maritime, Healthcare, and Skilled Labor types of jobs are available, expanding in numbers, and forecasted by state and federal agencies to open many new positions through the year 2018.
Compared to the Continental USA, Hawaii has experienced more job creation in IT (Information Technology) and Healthcare Industries than the lower 48 states overall. Jobs such as ship engineers are expected to triple in 2014 and long before 2018, with a near-200% increase. Commercial fishing and international trade expansions make these figures even more realistic.
DID YOU KNOW? —
Some people attend Disneyland in California as children, work part-time for Disney in high school, serve an internship with Mickey, work full-time in a career at the park, and come back to work part-time in retirement. In effect, they never leave Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom in Florida, and/or several other Disney parks. it sure is good to have a long-term job!
Disney characters tell us that A dream is a wish your heart makes. For the happy workers who keep jobs from high school through retirement, their dreams are a life-long reality.
Look at Disney jobs and internships and the movie Tomorrowland (2015).
- Working hard,
- Taking notes in an employment portfolio,
- Showing good appearance and manners,
- Being productive and cooperative,
- Showing initiative at the most appropriate times, and
- Becoming more visible as a good employee —
These are behaviors that lead a student or adult intern from the internship to full-time employment – right? Unfortunately, not always.
All these items can help make your internship experience good enough to lead to an off of a job that can be the foundation for a career offer, but this does not always the case.
Some employers use government-subsidized interns during a few months each year and do not hire them full-time after completion. Other internships turn out to be part-time temporary summer jobs. However, America is home to employers that maintain well-developed, ongoing internship programs that do lead to full-time work. Access the link above for the list and some other good ideas.
Where is the Superstition Freeway? It is a real section of highway on Arizona’s US Highway 60 that runs past the Lost Dutchman Mine and tons of attractions in the Superstition Mountains. This area is between the Greater Phoenix Metro Area and New Mexico, where an Apache Reservation covers lands in both states.
Truck driving jobs have grown to nearly 1,000,000 in the United States in the first two months of 2015 and they give signs of increasing even more. Driving through the magical lands of the American Southwest is a good way to spend that truck driving time.
Phoenix itself offers an increasing number of jobs. and the city is the source of amazing IT innovations among its young people, as shown in the film Spare Parts with George Lopez. Arizona and New Mexico colleges and universities partner with business and government to come up with new products like petroleum-type oil made from algae.
Nearby and in the western suburbs of Phoenix, Surprise AZ is among the Top 10 Fast Growing Micro-Cities in America. This hows how fast the metro area and the state are growing in population, business, and jobs, although the state is still not overly crowded with people. In fact, the state needs more workers and relocating workers will find a pleasant climate, although hot in summer, and many intriguing and fun attractions.
Some of the jobs growing fast in Central Arizona include Truck Drivers, Biomedical and Healthcare jobs with the help of the University of Arizona and the Mayo Clinic, IT Engineers and Managers, Sales People and Store Managers, Finance and Insurance jobs, and positions in the Construction Trades. Alternative energy jobs are also stable. Arizona supports well over 500 different Aerospace Industry companies and some of these appear on the listing of NASA’s Commercial Crew. Aerospace jobs are increasing.
US 60 runs through Central Arizona and hits many towns with good employment opportunities, especially the Phoenix Metro.
The Big Ohio River Becomes a National Scenic Byway in 1996, one of the 14 National Scenic Byways first chosen in the United States.
This honor gives the river a distinction not unlike that of being one of the 13 Original Colonies.
The Ohio River passes through 14 different counties between Indiana and Pennsylvania. In West Virginia and Kentucky, it has sometimes been called Big Sandy River.
The place farthest to the south in the state is a city called South Point. At the western end is a GHOST TOWN and at the eastern end is the place where a famous criminal died. In between are incredible archaeological and historical sites, concerts and other entertainment venues, sports, fishing, places to relax, paddle boat cruises, hiking & biking, great diners and restaurants, museums, art galleries, and a series of bridges to Kentucky and West Virginia natural wonders.

As if there was not enough to keep us busy with the Masters Tournament activities, now some voices are shouting that winner of the Green Jacket in 2014, Bubba Watson, should never have gone to Waffle House later that night. What’s wrong with a clean, well run Waffle House once in a while, anyone?
The Tournament purse is 172 times the amount of the average American salary. Compare the three highest amounts:
- PGA – $10.5 Million
- Players Tournament – $9.0 Million
- Masters Tournament – $8.0 Million

QUOTES FOR LIFE FROM GOLF
Bobby Jones Quote:
Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots – but you have to play the ball where it lies.
Arnold Palmer: It’s a funny thing, the more I practice the luckier I get.
Jack Nicklaus, the Golden Bear: A kid grows up a lot faster on the golf course. Golf teaches you how to behave.
Mark Twain: It’s good sportsmanship to not pick up lost golf balls while they are still rolling.
