North Dakota became the second highest producer of oil in America, after Texas, during 2012.
The International Space Station ISS took photos of ND at night and found a huge mass of lights where there did not used to be a city. It’s the night crews working by lights of 150 different oil and gas companies.
On January 29, 2013 newscasts reported that Williston had tripled its population to at least 38,000 and that even Electrician Apprentices were banking $100,000 per year. Housing is as expensive as NYC, except for labor camps at $600/month.
Construction has increased for housing an dbusinesses; and restaurants can’t serve everybody fast enough – people are forming lines outside. RV camps have taken over fallow farmlands. and are doing good business renting places to park RVs and trucks.
An empty high school in 2012 is now overflowing in early 2013.
Some time is needed for Williston to catch up with the population. meanwhile, there are still at least 1000 well-paying jobs open.
