Mike Searson, released January 25, 2007.

Theater Managers and Movie House Owners tell me that Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter is played for reality and with a straight-faced seriousness. I agree with that opinion and the film works. A lot of this is due to the employment of long-time Civil War Reenactors to fill the battle scenes and correct inaccuracies in the film proceedings related to history. This story is as accurate as you can get, with added vampires that are really symbols.

It’s a fantastic film and the vampires are not only exciting to younger film fans, but can represent the evils of slavery and similar conditions during the Civil War.

These Civil War Era living historians strive for accuracy, even in correcting the angle of a soldier’s fall after he was shot on a battlefield. If you one of their reenactments as I have, you can be sure that the scene is as it was during the war.

You are there with them, as if you had bought a ticket to Mark Kunkel’s Disaster Park and its brutal rides through the Civil War battles and other famous catastrophes.

I have reviewed dozens of films in the last few weeks, and this is one of the best.
