          Across the nation, doctors and nurses are volunteering to lead walking groups in their communities. Pediatricians especially enjoy doing this project for their own health and that of their patients and community members. It’s been happening in our city and suburb parks for nearly two years and fits right in with Michelle Obama’s more recent suggestion to Let’s Move in America for the sake of our children’s health.

Walk With a Doc at Whetstone Park

Just Walk With a Doc was already happening. Now’s the time to visit the informative website and see of your state and community offers this program. Local physicians like pediatricians and cardiac  specialists volunteer to lead walking groups on Saturday or Sunday mornings, sometimes weekly. Free pedometers and healthy snacks are provided and you can talk to a doc free of charge. They all walk with you and other health professional often turn up to walk and help. It’s a community wellness happening!
