With St. Patrick’s Day  approaching amid all the controversy surrounding this week’s “Aboriginal Dance” 2010 Olympic Russian skating insult to all ethnic and Indigenous Peoples around the world, we wonder about how best to honor the Irish.  The March holiday will be one of celebration and good cheer as always, with many non-Irish participants as well as the Irish, Irish Americans, and Irish descendants living in many other countries. It should be a happy time. Cultures and ethnicities should be relished and honored, rather than defamed and belittled.

What kind of work have the Irish done throughout history? – Of course, they farmed potatoes; but, they were explorers as early as the start of the 6th Century AD.  They invented the manmade island as well as the guided missle. They discovered the pulsar.  They brought us film and music, not to mention books, poetry, art, and architecture; and a couple of US Presidents.

Does the name Bram Stoker ring a bell? – C.S. Lewis? Liam Neeson? How about all the Irish astronauts?  —  And what famous Irish descendant saw a law passed to protect the earnings of child actors?  Have a happy holiday, remember the Irish and their work, pick up some traditional recipes, and read more at:
