Little did most of America know that several organizations – privately funded – have been studying or excavating Gardner Island in the South Pacific for years in search of Amelia Earhart. The largest push is through The Earhart Project of TIGHAR.

via The Amelia Earhart Archaeological Site Yields Confirmed Evidence – Cover Ups, Monuments and Jazz Tributes.

Artifacts have been accumulated in 9 separate archaeological digs over time and the 120 radio signals sent out at the time of Earhart’s disappearance have been shown to be likely real. Naval and Coast Guard officials had dismissed them as phoney or in error back in July 1937.

Some authors propose a government cover up, Earhart’s flight and emergency landing used to distract the growing AXIS Powers from American actions before entering World War II.

We hope to see recovery of Amelia Earhart’s plane before the end of 2012, the project funded completely by donations of $2,000,000. Most of the funding has been collected.

Closure for families in a memorial service, and a national monument or national historic registration of the landing site would be appropriate at the end of this long-time mystery.

The year is 2012 and it’s the 60th anniversary of a long lived rock group called The Rolling Stones.  They played in Hamburg, Germany back in the 1960s, as did The Beatles and dozens of other musicians and wannabes.

Review: “Ticket to Ride” by Graham Sclater; Hamburg Beat Central In the 1960s Reeperbahn District.

Did you know that the music business was dangerous in Hamburg and its Beat Central? Music producer Graham Sclater was one of the young British musicians there in the sixties after the Beatles toured. He has given us a story of a young band like his and others who lived through the Reeperbahn experience of the St. Pauli District. Some did not make it, but their stories are riveting.

Dragon/Falcon 9 Launch 5/22/2012 – NASA Commercial Crew: 63 Aerospace Companies in 26 US States

Celestis, the company that offers the service of distributing human ashes in space, came to an agreement with SpaceX to launch James Doohan’s ashes on the May 2012 cargo shipment to the ISS aboard the Dragon capsule atop the Falcon 9 rocket. Doohan portrayed Chief Engineer Montgomery “Scotty” Scott on TV’s original Star Trek® and in several movies.

America now has 63 aerospace companies and 7 spacecraft that are safer, less expensive, and more efficient that the US Space Shuttle. On May 22, 2012 we proved that America is back in space and the US Space Program never ended.

I saw the Dragon solar arrays deploy in close-up online from a camera on board the space capsule. Meanwhile, 100s of spectators at Cape Canaveral were jumping up & down, cheering. SpaceX staff were laughing and crying. The excitement of the 1960s space program has been duplicated!

Love Him Or Hate Him, John Cusack Is Edgar Allan Poe on Film

The Raven (2012)

John Cusack portrays Edgar Allan Poe in a way we don’t usually imagine  the tormented poet.  This is all despite hearing all our lives that that Poe was an alcoholic, erratic, and even expelled from West Point. He was talented, but tortured.

In The Raven (2012), we witness Cusack’s Poe up close and with belief.

He craves alcohol, screams at people in bars and gets tossed out. He shouts at his newspaper editor and bellows about a hack critic’s work used in place of his own – the hack later gets himself sliced up.

Poe is not appreciated in his own lifetime as he might have been. In fact, his innovative style may have earned him a rating of “crackpot.” However, viewing the film one might say, “No wonder he drinks.”

See the film as soon as possible.

Although illegal in most states, hazing kills people in the USA when they join some groups.

These groups can be community clubs, military groups, churches, athletic teams, marching bands, places of employment – and who knows how many others?

Why are we not safe to join a group and enjoy our membership afterwards? Shy must some of us die from forced drinking (tied up and alcohol forced down our throats), fractured skulls, drownings, beatings, and other initiation rites.

Most US States (44) and the Philippines have anti-hazing laws, but they are not always enforced.  It is unthinkable that a young person might work hard to gain membership in a famous marching band, only to die because of it.

A new type of legal practice wants to end hazing across America - School and Hazing Law. Access this link for examples:

The History of Doo-Wop Not Found In Late Night Infomercials

Some people say that their favorite style of music – doo-wop – began in the 1950s or even the 1960. It began in 1931 with the original group of four male singers in the Ink Spots.

Not long after their inception as a vocal and quick radio fame around the Midwest and NYC, the  Spots’ promoter put in a hot-hot from the Savoy Ballroom talent show, Bill Kinney, and the group began a gradual downhill slide. One of the originals left and formed the Brown Spots, while another of the first of the original quartet won rights to the name Ink Spots and created a new Ink Spots with some new singers.

Despite the drama and outside attempts to grab money, control and power, the Ink Spots influenced small-group vocal music as no one else came close to doing.

Today, you can hear the Spots’ influence continuing in such a Capella groups as Street Corner Symphony and others that entertain the world on the annual show called The Sing Off. On late night television, you can see the dozens of original doo-wop groups in infomercials and PBS telethon.

Doo-wop is still alive. Just be careful of the imposter groups out there and read more at the link above.

What Happened To the Pets On the Titanic in 1912?

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic and from remastered 3D filming to cartoons and new amusement park rides, the Titanic is everywhere. People have Titanic Fever, but are hashing over the same topics and gossip about the ill fated luxury liner.

Fanzines are even appearing an a blog article envisioned a Saturday Night Live type of final scene between Jack and his beloved in the frozen sea. Title? – How Rose Killed Jack (with her selfishness). Odd but entertaining fare. When I first saw the title, though, all I could think of the the Kennedys.

All this aside, how about the pets on board the Titanic – what happened to them? What about the food animals in the galley area? You’ll be surprised at all the rumors surrounding these creatures as well when you access the link above.

Have a grand time if you see Titanic 3D, but it’s too much water for me! Cheers!

Nyotaimori Body Sushi, Human Rights and Women’s Status

Increasingly, we are hearing about licking body shots of alcoholic beverages from someone’s bare body. Drinking alcohol is high risk behavior, health-wise, but still not exciting enough, so extreme drinking games and nudity have been added. Further, we are seeing such antics on the big screen – and the really big screen, IMAX – in more and more movies. For instance, Project X.

Project X is nothing like SpaceX, LunarX or the XPrize. It’s about under-aged house party drinking egged on by the older college crowd until 4 square blocks of an upscale neighborhood are demolished and then burned to the ground. It’s fiction based on a true event. But the bad part is that the teenager that was sucked into doing this was complimented on it by his dad in the film. We’ll see more and more of these kinds of films. We’ll see more of the behavior in the future, since parents took their elementary school kids to see this R-rater and they all laughed together. These families should not be surprised to see naked folks in their homes unexpectedly and their kids licking liquor from their bodies.

People eat dinner from nude people-tables, too. The practice did not catch on in the USA in 2003 and was abandoned. In 2007, it became acceptable. Nude sushi restaurants began to open around the nation with completely nude women and men lying on tables and partially covered with sushi, which was more expensive now, because it had a naked woman (or man) under it. In 2012, the practice is more widespread, but the “tables” wear skimpy clothing now.

What’s next for the human body?

In other countries, women are forced to become sushi serving tables in a form of human trafficking –

All of the women on this list have worked in businesses, some as difficult as mining. Most are located in South Africa.

The Dolphins of Toshima Island

The people of an island belonging to Tokyo have registered a pod of 16 dolphins as people. The dolphins are registered citizens of Toshima Island and therefore, Tokyo, to which the island belongs. Toshima is a vacation spot int he Izu Islands with one village and a huge forest of camellia trees that makes up 80% of the landscape of the island.

It is also home to the largest species of lily in the world. All of this brings attention to the plight of over hunted sea life that ends up in tuna cans.  In order to protect these dolphin species from hunters, a group on Toshima called BlueVoice.org and their advocates among conservation societies have registered dolphins as official Japanese citizens. To hunt them is to commit murder. It is a brilliant move.
